The Rhine chips are meant to be interfaced with external physical layer devices via an MII bus. The reason this driver is excluded as of now is iki clear to me, but the bottom line is, it cannot be found in Bt6105 7 by default and if you want to get it to work you need to download it from.
It works as expected in Microsoft Windows, both Server and end-user platforms, but in Linux it has totally a different story.
Some operating systems place the controller in low power mode when shutting down, and some PCI BIOSes fail to bring the chip out of this state before d-lik it.
The driver tries to detect this condition and bring the adapter back to the D0 full power state, but this may not be enough to return the driver to a fully operational condition.

The strange behaviour was there, but the card would disappear and comeback from time to time or lost its IP Address. Vh6105 more information on configuring this device, see ifconfig 8. I experienced a slightly different behaviour in CentOS 6. This buffer copying impairs transmit performance on slower systems but cannot be avoided.
Whether someone has managed to get it to work properly, remains to be seen. If buffers are not aligned correctly, the chip will round the supplied buffer address and begin DMAing from the wrong location.
